[Guide] Mission Metropolis

Missions play a big role in Harmonic Dissonance in the sense that they will be the main way in which you will be leveling up. Missions are in a sense roleplayed posts in which you complete the set task. The missions are really open ended, so it's not so much about completing what you have to do but about how you do it (and how well you do it.) Be creative. Being creative in the Mission Metropolis will not go unnoticed. You may find you will receive extra prizes or money for doing things outside of the square.

Finding a Mission

Missions will appear at random intervals. Sometimes they will appear at regular intervals. Other times, they will popup after longer periods of time. To find a mission all you have to do is look in the Mission Metropolis. It is here that missions from all around Rael are posted. Find a Mission that sounds interesting. You will see a small post that will look like something similar to what can be seen below.

Outline of Mission: This is a sample mission. The mission outline will be placed here. This tells you what the mission is about and what you need to do to complete it. The way you go about completing the mission is your choice.

Starting a Mission

Once you have found a Mission that looks good, You need to post in the mission thread saying "Mission Claimed". This will be recorded as your 'Starting Date'. After you have claimed a mission you have 72 hours to complete it fully (unless you've changed rank, in which case you'll have longer - see Mission Rules (http://forums.ichigos.com/showthread.php?t=1715) for more details.) If your mission is not completed in the 72 hours (120 for missions over 10,000 characters, and extensions add 48 hours to the limit) since you claimed it, your claim will be deleted and the mission will go back onto the market.

After you've completed a mission you'll have to wait for 3 days before you can attempt another mission. When you forfeit a mission, you'll have to wait three days before you're allowed to retry or pick another mission.

Completing a Mission

This is the fun part. Time to be creative! To complete a mission you need to fulfill the Mission Outline. An example of a Mission Outline is "To Assist two travellers on their way to Basaar". Now you could simply just role play you two walking along a path taking them to Basaar. However, to get more money and more EXP, you need to make it exciting. A few ideas for this particular mission could be: one of the Travellers gets lost and you need to find them; Something is preventing you from getting through ie Monster attack; The roadway is blocked and you need to find another way. Or something - just have fun with it!
At the end of a mission you need to say "Complete". This is to let us know that your mission is Completed, so we know the mission is ready for marking. If you do not put "Complete" at the end, we may dismiss your efforts as being unfinished so please indicate to me when you are done.

IMPORTANT NOTE: With regard to formatting tags - as a general rule we include them in the word count. However, if your mission contains a lot of dialogue we remove ALL the colour tags before assessing - in other words, consider this while writing your mission because if you do chuck a lot of dialogue in there you should make it well over the word count to be sure that the removal of the colour tags won't cause you to fail the mission

Getting Your Reward

Once you have completed your mission you need to be patient for a Mod to come by and add your stats to your Character Statistics. This could take a while to happen so be patient and do not complain. Our Mods do have a life beyond that of Harmonic Dissonance and any complaining will not be tolerated. We will try our best to get around to markins missions quickly, but we're just as busy as everyone else, so sometimes you might need to be patient. You will get your rewards eventually. After finishing a mission you'll have to wait for at least 7 days (after your original claim of the last mission) before you can attempt another mission. This is also the case when you fail a mission, or when you don't finish a mission in time.

Other Types of Missions

Some other types of missions include:

Special Missions: These missions are different from normal missions in the sense that they do not always have a character limit. This means you may have to collect certain items and once you collect them all your mission is complete. Special Missions will also be the missions in which they are built for a specific character. Every so often you may recieve a PM requesting your presence in Mission Metropolis.

Creative Missions: These missions will involve the maker creating some form of media. Whether it be a drawing, artwork, story, midi etc. The possibilities are endless. Get your creative juices pumping with these missions. Extra rewards are given out to the most creative entries.

Character Development Missions: These are designed to help you develop a particular aspect of your character - it may ask you to focus on a particular item that belongs to your character and explain how they came to own it, or get you to develop some of your character's backstory. This is a chance to develop your character and get rewarded for it, as you don't get rewards for doing subplots.
