Appearance: Nariël looks like a young human woman with dark blue hair and deep red eyes. Her hair reaches her shoulder and she has a fringe which partly covers her face. She's 1.75 metres tall and has a figure that would be considered attractive by many.
Her combat clothes are mainly in black and dark shades of purple. She wears a black wet-suit like piece of clothing and on top of that a dark purple top and skirt. She also wears heavy combat boots and combat gloves, offering her more protection while in a fight. She has heavy, spiked shoulder guards which she can use to protect herself from impacts or to inflict damage on an opponent in battle. She also wears an armour under her cape which protects her hips and her upper body from enemy attacks.
Biography:
“I hate you!”
Those were the last words Nariël had shouted at her father before she ran into the forest. She ran for a long time, until she was sure that her father had not come after her. Then she slowed down and after a while she sat down next to a small stream of water. She used the cool water to wash away the tears on her face. Not much later, she heard a sound behind her. She turned around and reached for her weapon – a small sword she had gotten from her father as a gift not too long ago – and shouted “Who’s there?”. She was not the type to be afraid, as she could handle most wild animals in the forest. “Don’t attack, it’s me!”. A familiar voice. Out of the woods came Celes, Nariël’s younger sister.
“You had a fight with father again?”
“He’s an idiot. He’s trying to make me do things that are impossible.”
“They aren’t impossible.”
“They are. I don’t want to do them.”
“Not wanting is something different than not being able to.”
Nariël shrugged. She had been training with her father all afternoon but he kept pressing her to do more. After a while, she had given up, shouted at her father, who had commanded her back into her place, which she had refused upon which she had ran off.
“Let’s go back. Mum and dad are worried about you.”
Nariël shrugged again. “Let them worry.”
Then suddenly a loud bang broke the usual silence of the forest. Following the explosion was the sound of battle, followed by the sound of people screaming in terror.
“Something must have happened!”
The two girls got up and rushed back to their village. The houses were on fire. There were dead people everywhere. Nariël and Celes hid behind a broken kart and looked at the centre square. There were severel Aerinthian warriors packed together. They were holding Nariël’s father, who was severely injured. His swords were on the ground between Nariël and her father. The commander of the Aerinthians was laughing.
“So this is the mighty Demerethon van Calanor? The great general?”
“Former general you punk, I’ve lived a peaceful life for centuries now.”
“That doesn’t mean your crimes have washed away.”
“My crimes? Look at what you’ve done to this village!”
Nariël’s father spat in the Aerinthian’s face. The Aerinthian grinned, and then drove his spear through Demerethon’s head. At that moment, Nariël just exploded. She got out of her hiding place, and ran towards the Angels. She picked up her father’s swords and kept running.
The first three Angels fell without a fight, they were caught in surprise. Two others put up a fight, but Nariël managed to strike them down aswell. Their leader was the only one who put up a fight, but after several minutes Nariël managed to put the sword through his eye and with a sideway cut she cracked his skull. As blood and brainmass fell out of the open head, she ran towards her father, knowing that he would never talk to her again. Together with her sister, she buried the people of the town. The people they had loved, the people who they cared for. After that, she and Celes packed the few items that they had been able to salvage and they left town, looking for a better place in a big, unknown world.
Merits: stubborn, ambitious, Leadership, Attractive
Flaws: dishonourable, over-confident, conceited
Equipment
Shadowblades - The swords that have been handed down within the van Calanor family ever since they were created. Two long and strong swords with black marks on it. The hilt and the blade of the swords are made of a strong metal, the hilt being covered with black leather. On the top of it is the image of a horned skull, that family weapon of the van Calanors. The weapons themself are very sharp and powerful, and they amplify the dark magic of the owner to make them even more powerful.
Behemoth - This weapon is best described as a crossover between an iron baseball bat and a morning star. In essence, it is an iron bat with heavy spikes sticking out everywhere. The weapon is very heavy and therefore hard and slow to wield, but once something gets hit by it it's bound to do heavy damage instantly.
Shadow Cape - A simple name for a very strong part of clothing. This is a cape which is made of a special material that deflects weak attacks and absorbs small amounts of magic attacks. Against strong attacks this cape won't do much, but it'll slightly reduce the damage from the attack.
Nariël's Armour - A dark, strong but light custom armour, giving Nariël extra protection in battle. The armour covers the top part of the body, the hips, the lower legs and the lower arms of the wearer.
