The Tavern
"The Tavern", that was the simple name that they gave it. This was the circular building, not far from the area of battle and excitement, where warriors mingled, alliances were formed, and challenges made.
The green wooden door opens out into the spacious room, warm and welcoming, with padded seating running along one half of the sandy coloured wall. On the far end is a counter, scratches and dents telling stories of its long use, behind which drinks of all kinds are served to those who come. Three circular tables are placed in the room, evenly spaced apart, with small stools surrounding them.
The Tavern is currently empty, but open for business.

Tavern NPCs
Bob, the bartender: The owner and the bartender of "The Tavern", he's just another bartender as most people are concerned.
Rod, the bouncer: The bouncer of "The Tavern". He's unusual among the Ryzen as most of his weight comes from muscles, not excess fat.

[I'll start!]
Lacha stepped through the doorway into the warm air of the Tavern. It felt different to the other inns she had visited - for one thing, there was nobody inside it yet apart from the bartender who was standing by the counter.
"Hello, miss, what can I get ya?" he said, in a way which sounded like he had said the same thing for years.
Lacha walked over to the counter and caught a glimpse of the various bottles behind him.
"What is available to order?" she asked. Many of the labels looked unfamiliar to her.
The bartender went on to list dozens of kinds of drinks, and by the fourth name Lacha had already lost focus. Maybe she'd just have some cold water when he had finished talking.
She looked around the vacant room while he talked. Where were the other people?

" Psst. Hey!" Palme tried to get the attention of the only other customer present. She looked over at him, seemingly surprise to see him hiding in an empty barrel.
" The bartender will only sell me orange juice. Maybe you can get me somehting alcoholic."Palme whispered.
" Wait, while I roll out the barrel." Bob apologised to Lacha as he rolled the barrel that Palme was in out of the door.
" Noooooo...oooo.ooo.."

Hiei stood at the front of the green tavern doors. The wooden built tavern, now showing signs of wear, gave Hiei a presence of hospitality. He wanted to take a break from his travels, and he felt a sort of attachment to this world. Staying longer wasn't a problem for Hiei, but somehow when he stood at the doors, he suddenly felt a familiar presence pushed into his soul. It was as if he had been in there before, and yet had never took a step into the wooden circular structure. Hiei stood there for a few long moments, yet not realizing that time was running by.
The doors burst open, with Bob sprinting out while rolling a large barrel out. Hiei could hear a constant "wrlwrlwrl" sound coming from inside the barrel. Bob went towards Hiei, and finally looked up when he was about to collide with him. Bob quickly rolled the barrel to another direction, nimbly diverting his straightforward direction and instead brushed towards Hiei's left side.
"Welcome!" Bob said with a hearty tone, his face in a smile towards Hiei, yet most of his attention was on the barrel. "Please come in, I will serve you in a moment." Hiei took it as a cue to take his first steps into the tavern. As he entered, the doors became shut. He took no notice of the door, and looked around. He noticed no one was in the room except for Lacha, who sits at the third table away from the counter. She appeared to be daydreaming a bit, half attentative yet half weary.
Hiei took a few moments to look around him, and took a big whiff at the warm air the tavern emits. It is surely a welcoming old smell, but that could just be from the embers burning in the fireplace at the corner. When Hiei finished observing the place, Lacha noticed him standing next to the door. Hiei then walked towards Lacha's table, and bowed down.
"Is this seat taken?"
Lacha looked at Hiei for a second, and shook her head. Hiei pulled a seat out and sat down. The tavern doors opened again, with Bob emerging from the doors. Bob went back to the counter, and looked towards Hiei.
"What would you like to have, sir?"
"Do you happen to have any Kölschs?"
"Yes"
"Excellent. Three Kölschs, barkeep." Bob nodded in response, and immediately went to work.
"It's amazing that you can drink so much" Lacha was surprised at the amount Hiei wanted.
"Oh, I'm not drinking all of it." Hiei replied. "One glass is for you, and the other is for the guy in the barrel" Hiei spoke in a soft, yet tolerable magnitude where Bob couldn't hear from a distance. Regardless, Bob was hard at work, and wouldn't be able to pay any attention anyway.
The doors opened again, now Palme emerging from the doors, his hair and clothes a little messy from the tossing. Palme looked around, and saw Hiei and Lache sitting at a table.
"That must be him." Hiei then gestured at Palme to come. "I've ordered something for you. Come, take a seat."

Vorel rubbed her head with her small hand, she let out a sigh of relieve when she look at the sign, The Tavern.
"Aaaah... Thank goodness I thought I was lost! Darn those stupid map! I hate maps!" as she wiped the sweat from her face, "Well, then. Since I'm here, I've got to go inside, again..."
She opened the door a little roughly, then move her vision to the man that was behind the bar. "Bob sirree!" she shouted, waved to Bob and walked in such a manner that make three people who were sitting on the table just beside her a little bit startled because of her somehow annoying voice.
"Miss Vorel, if I've not forgotten?" Bob greeted Vorel.
"Yup! Vorel, that's the name!" Vorel made a spinning move and dropped her crossed arms on the bar table, "Melon juice, please!" Vorel smiled wide.
"Hahaha, I see. I got it ready here..." Bob took a glass and cleaned it with a white small towel, then poured the melon juice, stirred it and add some ices. "Here, enjoy" as he put the glass in front of Vorel who quickly drank it and ate the ices. Vorel shivered because of the coldness of the ice inside her mouth. Bob smiled gently.
"Thanks!" said Vorel. She put some coins on the table, then stood up. "I should move on again..." but her gaze stopped at a little boy who looked familiar. She walked towards the trio who were sitting and drinking. Vorel put her gaze on Palme who startled because Vorel's face was really close.
"Pa... Pa... What was that...? Darn I can't recall it... Something have to do with hand... Pa..." Vorel tried to remember but she can't.
"It's Pal-" just when Palme was trying to reply,
"Oh, I've got to go to the toilet! Later!" Vorel ran to the toilet. Leaving Palme and the other two people.

Palme quickly swallowed a few gulps of Kölsch before Bob realised and pulled the mug away from him.
" We don't serve beer to minors." Bob reminded Hiei then poured a cup of orange juice for Palme. Palme smiled widely at Hiei giving the him a thumbs up. " Pass me a bottle next time, outside."
Just then Vorel entered, Palme was about to tell her his name again when she left hurriedly. " Something to do with hand."Palme frowned looking at the melon juice on the table.
Palme ran out to the store next door and came back with a bottle of tobasco sauce. Vorel was still away, so Palme emptied the content into the melon juice while Hiei and Lacha were busy talking. He quickly kept the empty bottle in his pocket and pretended like nothing happened.

After the latest customer rushed off to the toilet, Lacha went through the names in her head. There was Hiei, Palme was the little one, and... She had already forgotten the last one.
"So, what do you think of the drink?" asked Hiei confidently, following his attempt to smuggle some to Palme.
"Yes... erm.. yeah, it's good," replied Lacha, and she gave a quick smile before taking a tiny sip. In truth, she thought it was disgusting, had no idea why Palme wanted any and thought Hiei must have had different tastebuds due to being a different race. That was her attempt at an explanation anyway.
"I always ask for it whenever I go to any inn or tavern." He then took a big swig of it as if to prove his point. Lacha then noticed Palme looking slightly suspicious, but she had not seen what he had done.
Bob the bartender came back over, cleaning a glass with a towel.
"I'm glad I've got customers here now. We just reopened, and there's a new season of fights going on at the stadium. I should take some time off to watch!"
Lacha was glad for the change in topic, a topic which raised her interest too.
"There are battles at the stadium?" she asked.

Hiei noticed Lacha's dislike of the Kölsch when she sipped it in small amounts. To be honest, Kölsch wasn't a favorite of Hiei's, but figured that it was the right drink for anyone to try. After all, it was not a very bitter drink, with a prominent hoppiness to it. Hiei looked at Palme drinking in big gulps before Bob took the glass away from him. This guy, although young, enjoys it.
What a vast difference in palate these two have, Hiei thought.
"I'm glad I've got customers here now. We just reopened, and there's a new season of fights going on at the stadium. I should take some time off to watch!" Bob exclaimed.
"There are battles at the stadium?" Lacha asked.
"Of course!" Bob replied, "The battles first are determined by mutual agreement between the two in choosing the arena. Most of the time, the agreements are held here, in the tavern." Bob smirked a little, proud of the hard work he put into the tavern, but mostly because the tavern itself help facilitate the urge to battle in many of them.
"Well, that sounds interesting." Hiei set his glass down gently, pondering about something. The tavern's warm and welcoming air suddenly transformed into a swirling energy, waiting to be unleashed. The energy was invisible, but the customers in tavern began to feel a sort of excitement for battle after Bob mentioned about the connection of the stadium to the tavern. Hiei took notice of this, but couldn't help feeling a rush of excitement coursing through his body. Hiei mentally wrestled himself on the thought of battle, for he had not fought in a long time. However, he just went into the tavern, sat down, and just met a few people. Now shouldn't be the time to fight anyone.
"So, are the stadiums packed with people?" Hiei asked.

Vorel came out from the toilet and make her way back to the table where she left half of her melon juice. She grab the glass and take it slowly up to her lips.
While Palme was looking anxiously, a little bit giggled.
Vorel saw some reddish color beside the green color of the melon inside the glass. She sniffed the juice and found a strange smell beside the melon juice's itself.
She took a little sip and then spitted it. "PEH! PEH! PEH! What the hell is inside this thing?!" then put the glass back on the table, surprising Bob.
"What the..." Bob took the glass and sniffed it, "Tabasco?!"
"TABASCO?!" Vorel snapped.
Palme chuckled hard, still controlling the laugh while Lacha and Hiei looked at Vorel who is looking at Palme with a piercing eye.
"You...?" as Vorel grinned devilishly.

Kolis approached the lonely looking in; he quickly took a look at the note he had received and then pocketed it.
"Well, this seems to be it"
Kolis walked in the door expecting the tavern to be full, it was much easier to stay hidden when amongst many others; but instead only saw a group of people around a table. Everyone suddenly stopped talking (and smiling). As Kolis made his way across the inn towards Bob, everyone's eyes' followed.
"That's right, let's all stare at the scary man with mask, and have no respect what so ever" Kolis though to himself.
"Woah, what's with that guy, talk about a mood killer...and what's with that mask?" A boy at the table commented to his fellows.
Kolis then turned and looked at the one who had spoken. Palme quickly turned away and suddenly became very intent on inspecting a glass on the table.
"That guy gives me the creeps!" Palme whispered under his breath.
"Now now Palme, don't you go judging people by their appearance....however he does seem to have some sort of dark aura around him......Hmmm, must be just me, time for another drink!" Hiei quicky picked up his cup and started to scull his drink.
Kolis continued and walked over to Bob.
"I understand you have a letter for me?" Kolis asked Bob in a dead tone.
"Ah, yes. You must be Kolis, here..." Bob reached inside his pocket and pulled out an envelope and gave it to Kolis.
"Thankyou" Kolis then turned and took a seat on the other side of the inn. He opened the envelope, and began to read. The people at the table began conversing again, but still shot the occasional side glance in his direction.

Hiei took another swig of his drink when he noticed Palme and Vorel casting occasional side glances towards Kolis. Hiei took a gulp of his drink and set the glass down in a audible thud, loud enough to surprise Palme and Vorel from their glancing.
"I don't think that guy likes to be stared at like that." Hiei whispered to Palme and Vorel, both nodding in guilt. They returned to what they were doing, though Hiei had other things in mind. The air of battle that prevaded the tavern now calmed down, however the excitement did not leave Hiei's body. Hiei found himself silently struggling in his head over controlling his body, which is aching for some exercise.
"Excuse me one moment." Hiei said quietly as he got up and towards the counter. Bob was standing behind the counter, returning to his everyday chores of cleaning glasses and watching over customers.
"Hey, here is the money for the drinks, my friend." Hiei placed the coins on the counter, and Bob set his cleaning cloth down and took the coins in his hands, counting up the sum.
"Sir, you've given me more than you need to. The drinks come out to--"
"I know." Hiei interrupted, "The extra coins is for a drink I want to purchase. I don't suppose you have..." Hiei whispered the remaining contents of his message to Bob, and Bob nodded. Hiei nodded in response, and Bob went right to work in filling up a empty mug with some cold amber-colored liquor. Bob then pushed the mug towards Hiei, jesturing him to take it. Hiei nodded once more to Bob, whispering a "thank you" to him as he grabbed the mug. Hiei then turned around and walked towards his table.
"Your drinking more?" Palme asked, and Hiei shook his head.
"This isn't for me." Hiei said in a quiet voice, "It's for that guy with the full faced mask"
Hiei began heading towards Kolis' table as Palme and the others looked at him in disbelief. As Hiei approached Kolis' table, Kolis appeared to not take notice of Hiei's existance in front of him, and continued reading his letter in silence. Hiei noticed that Kolis does, in fact, have a invisible dark aura around him, but it doesn't seem to affect Hiei since he too is a Darkanian. Hiei set the mug down on the table with another thud, loud enough to get Kolis' attention. Kolis finally looked up at Hiei, not because he acknowledged him, but because he was being disturbed.
"Hey. This is Kellerbiers. I believe you would like this kind of drink. Go ahead, have a drink. It is on me." Hiei took a few moments to look at Kolis as he said this, and then turned around to head back to his table. He didn't really care if Kolis would drink it or not, but he wanted to get his mind away from fighting a bit. Also, a friendly gesture helps settle the mood a little, but Hiei is curious as to what will turn out from this encounter.

Kolis angrily (not that you could notice though) looked up at the tall man who had just noisily placed a mug on the table. What was aiming to achieve with this gesture?
"Hey. This is Kellerbiers. I believe you would like this kind of drink. Go ahead, have a drink. It is on me."
Kolis watched the man proceed back to his table and sit down. Kolis picked up the drink and sniffed it for any trace of poison. Satisfied that the drink was fine to consume, Kolis lifted his mask just slightly and took a sip.
"This taste....." Kolis mumbled in awe.
This drink reminded him of a time long ago, when he was traveling across the sea from Basaar to the town of Kerzok. This was the same drink that the girl on the boat had offered him. Kolis smiled as he remembered (a rare thing I might add). Kolis looked back across to the table of the group of people. The man, Hiei if Kolis had heard from their conversation correctly, was trying to get Palme to apologize for putting something in one of the lady's drink.
Obviously he has good intentions. Maybe I have been a little too anti-social lately. Kolis thought to himself.
These seem to be good people, but why am I thinking this; they could be a bunch a thieves (But watching them converse made Kolis' elven and emotional side leek through a bit). "Somehow I doubt it....these people may even be able to help me...."
Kolis stood up from his table and placed the letter in his pocket.
"My thanks friend" Kolis called out to Hiei. "Maybe you could help me with something..." Kolis asked as he approached the table at which Hiei was sitting at.
Hiei grinned (out of gratitude or shock we may never know), but Palme tightened up, obviously not too happy that Hiei had befriended this strange man.

Vorel had just fake-strangled Palme when a man came in. Vorel stopped. Even though they continued with their random talk, Palme just had to stare a few more times at the man. How the hell does he see? How does he breathe?Palme continued wondering if perhaps the man was an undead. Palme did not like that he could not see the man face. Hiei went to offer the man a drink.
When the man walked towards them stiff saying, " Maybe you could help me with something..."
Palme had always felt that Hiei was a little weird, like somewhat dense about things in Rael. Palme doubted Hiei could judge that the masked man was evil even when it was so obvious with the dark aura. Palme suddenly went back to using his hand puppet. Barely opening his mouth and using a different voice, Palme said staring in his glass," You must be pretty damn ugly to wear a mask covering your whole face. How do we know that you don't have some kind of weird disease?"
Hiei wondered if Palme made that voice because Palme was currently sipping his juice ignoring the stranger. Palme could not see Kolis expression but perhaps that was good enough to make the masked man move away or go out. The typical reaction of masked, hooded, silent people.

Hiei looked at the three sitting around the table after the remark. Looking at Palme, Hiei noticed a hand puppet that was standing on Palme's hand. It was odd that he had not noticed it until now, but soon he put two and two together and assumed Palme to be the culprit of the nasty remark. But what will Hiei get out of this assumption? Nothing. He was simply trying to occupy his mind with pointless thoughts. However, Palme has pulled the trigger. Hiei can not stand the rush inside him any longer. Hiei's grin grew wider.
Kolis approached the table where Hiei and the others were sitting. Hiei didn't care if Kolis stopped advancing or ignored the remark, since Hiei stood up almost immediately, catching everyone's attention.
"Well well well!" Hiei said in a loud booming voice, his back facing Kolis. "I don't know who said that, but it is obvious that he or she wants to challenge someone to a fight, am I right?" Hiei was staring in one direction, and not at anyone, appearing as if he is talking to the wall. "But that's not a good way of initiating a challenge." Hiei suddenly turned around and walked up to Kolis. Standing a feet away from Kolis, Hiei unsheathed his sword with his right hand, bringing the sword down facing Kolis.
"You want me to help you?" Hiei repeated Kolis' words, boldly and loud, "You fight me first."

Kolis just stood staring at Hiei wondering if he had challenged him just to make sure he didn't do anything to Palme for the remark, or he just was itching for a fight. Kolis knew seasoned fighters could get like that sometimes.
"You see friend..." Kolis said while slowly drawing a dagger out of his belt. "...You have actually already helped me" Kolis finished while holding his dagger inversely in is hand and moved it across his chest in a defensive position.
"Oh, and how might that be" Hiei answered in mock curiosity.
"I was just about to ask you if they held tournaments here, and by your actions, I take the answer to be yes.... Kolis said if voice influenced with darkness.
Kolis paused for a moment letting his words sink in to Hiei.
"Your dark influence won't effect me, as I too are Darkanian; now, are we going to fight, or just play little tricks?"
Kolis suddenly tensed his body.
"Well friend, I guess I have no choice then. I accept your challenge..." Kolis whispered in an evil and cold voice.
Hiei suddenly saw the dark aura around Kolis expand and darken even move. He also swore, he could see Kolis grinning evilly behind his mask...

As the two warriors stood opposite eachother, everyone backed up a bit. Surely, this was not a place to actually start a fight? Bob shouted at the two aggressors: "Hey, this is a tavern, not a stadium!" The two seemed to ignore him, being totally fixed onto eachother.
"Okaaaay... not what I had in mind but certainly as entertaining!"
"They're not actually going to fight in here are they?"
As Lacha had said that, the door flung open with a loud noise. Kolis and Hiei seemed to be ripped out of their trance, both looking at the door now. In the door opening stood a woman unknown to them. She overlooked the situation and apparently decided there was no threat for her to walk across to the bar, where she handed a paper document to Bob.
"I just came back from the stadium and they asked me to give you this."
Bob looked at the paper and shook his head.
"That's a shame, these people were all fired up to go there."
"A bit too fired up, buncha weirdos!" Vorel shouted from the table she was sitting at.
Kolis put his dagger away while Hiei scratched his head.
"I... guess we got caught up in the moment. Sorry about that."
"Yeah, sorry."
"What stadiums are available for our fight then?"
"Central dome."
"Sorry, I asked Bob. He mentioned more stadiums."
"I'm sorry friend, she's right. All stadiums except for the central dome have been closed for maintenance. It says so right here on this piece of paper."
Bob pinnend the piece of paper on the wall next to the bar. It indeed read that the stadiums had been closed for an indefinate amount of time and that for the time being, the only available stadium was the central dome. To compensate for this, fighters get to choose special attributes to be applied to the Central dome. They can request this at a Moderator.

Catherine walked up to the place that had said 'The Tavern'. Just outside there was a strange looking man. He was obviously the bounty because of his size and the way he dressed.
She gave him a quick smile and walked inside. Looking around, the first(and most noticable) thing she saw was the people. She had walked in at the wrong time. The tension was so noticable that you could cut it with a knife.
She made her way very slowly towards the bartender hoping that she could pick up on what had happened before she walked in.

Alex watched a young girl walk toward the bar. She had a slight spring to her step, like she had received some pleasant news. She ordered a drink and glanced around casually. She seemed a little nervous, which Alex found strange. All of the patrons weren't not fierce looking, except for Bob. He always looked like he could spear a boar and eat it raw.
Alex smiled. He wasn't one to purposely make rhymes, but when they come out spontaneously, they seemed to have more of an affect.
Catherine had noticed Alex looking at her, and she gave Alex a quizzical look. Alex walked over and introduced himself.
"Hello. My name is Sefen. Are you knew to these parts?"
Alex watched in amusement as the young woman thrust out her hand, her face turned slightly red. "My name is Catherine."
"That's a lovely name. Over there sitting on that table is my companion Bardus."
Catherine smiled and waved at the burly man who was sipping the smallest cup she had ever seen. She almost laughed at the sight.
"Well if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Everyone in here is either friendly or too scared to be social."
She nodded quickly.
Alex made his way back to the table.
"Made a new friend have you?"
"I think so. She didn't talk much to be honest." Alex casually glanced at the bar to see Catherine looking in his direction. He waved at her, and she waved back.
Bardus rolled his eyes. "She could be your daughter if you were only a few years older."
"Oh, because every woman I talk to has to have a relationship with me, Alex said haughtily. "Just because you can't find any willing to stay with you for longer than a few hours."
Bardus looked at Alex with a that's-your-best? expression.
"I know, I'm not hitting the insult marker I'm usually capable of today. And just to let you know, I'm not interested in her that way. It's nice to help out people you don't know. Its called kindness. You might have forgotten about that when you painted your heart black." Alex couldn't help but smiling. Bardus was the most peaceful and caring person he had every met.
Bardus realised that Alex was being sarcastic, and allowed himself a chuckle. Anything to keep the kid quiet.

Catherine continued drinking her fruit juice slowly, debating whether or not she should go and sit at "Sefen's" table. She gave an occasionaly look at him and his friend, Bardus. They seemed like they were having a good time, laughing and talking unlike most of the other people in the bar.
By the time she had made up her mind her drink was finished, so she ordered another one and casually made her way to the table.
"Hi again."
She smiled and sat down, feeling slightly uncomfortable. She never really was a social person but it looked like Sefen was so she felt a bit more at ease.

"Uh-oh... Too many people, better disappear!" and with that she put on her hood but it stuck on her long elven ears. A little bit panic, she decided to walk away towards the door. Her face looking down, she put a quick pace walking.

She decided that she couldn't give a monkey's and continued her drink, wondering if anyone in the tavern would be interested in small fight. She actually kind of felt like giving it a go in the stadium, since it had been so long since she had last picked up her weapons and had a proper fight. A quick scan through the tavern told her that all the people present were newcomers, especially compared to her, and she decided that it would be just another waste of her time. Having concluded that, she paid for her drink and made her way towards the exit.

"Um... Me!"
Nariël quickly turned to face the speaker, as did the other customers of the tavern. There was an awkward moment as Lacha blinked, as if waking up.
In fact she just was. The reason why she had been so quiet [in the last few posts] was because she had been daydreaming about a recent barbecue event, and they were giving out large portions of purple cheese...
A small smile creased Nariël's face. "Oh, a challenge, eh?"

" What do you mean?"
" You seem like a nice guy," Palme replied. Pushover
" I want to try out my skills in battle you see, but I don't want to get too trashed up."
" I can't guarantee that. Why don't you find someone your own size?" Sefen said jokingly then flicked his head to the right.

" Don't do that to a paying customer!" Bob boomed staring murderously at Palme.
Palme pulled his fingers out. " Eww. Okay, you can come seek your revenge at Central Dome!" Then, he quickly ran out of the tavern heading towards central dome.

"Stupid shoelaces, I hate it when I have to tie them all up here... Why do I still keep this tall boots since then? dammit dammit dammit dammit..." Vorel mumbled in the sideways while fixing her shoelace when suddenly she saw Palme running towards the Central Dome. Not only Palme actually, but it seems like everyone is going there.
"I wonder why would everyone wants to go there..." Vorel tilted her head, "fighting, eh...? Sounds fun!" she finished her shoelaces and stand up. She put her hands on her hips, but found something missing.
"Oh, dammit! My pouch! I left it in the toilet! Gah!" Vorel ran back to the tavern quickly.

" What about fighting with children?"Palme tugged at Alexander's cloak to get noticed.
" What do you mean?"
" You seem like a nice guy," Palme replied. Pushover
" I want to try out my skills in battle you see, but I don't want to get too trashed up."
" I can't guarantee that. Why don't you find someone your own size?" Alexander said jokingly then flicked his head to the right.

[OOC: Didn't you read my bio? No-one can refer to Alexander by his birth name. No-one knows if he is still alive. You can only name him Sefen Demetrius.]
