[Central Dome] Hiei vs. Kolis
Central Dome
Battle Length: Normal (10 posts per fighter)
Fighters: Hiei (Hiei) vs. Kolis (Taemond)
Outline of Battle: A normal battle with no special rules. Killing is not allowed, dismemberment is not allowed. Judging will be done according to creativity and writing skills.
The sun is high in the sky as the clock strikes noon. People are still getting into the central dome to watch the upcoming fight. As the last spectators get into their seats, a voice rolls through the stadium.
"Behind the blue door, a newcomer, welcome the Darkanian, Hiei!"
The crowd cheers as the large door slowly opens. Only a few Aerinthians shout boo at the unknown warrior who now steps into the arena, looking around, for a moment surprised at all the people who came to watch his fight.
"And behind the yellow door, another newbie to our fighting grounds, welcome the masked Warrior, Kolis!"
The crowd once again cheered as the door opposite Hiei slowly opened and his opponent entered the arena. Behind them, the doors closed and the signal to start the match was given.

When the crowd settled down, silence prevaded the entire dome. They were anticipating the first strike, their hunger to see bloodshed rising. Hiei and Kolis were facing each other at the far ends of the dome. The distance between them was not great, but a few meters spanned the ground between them. The dome is shaped in a way that it covers the entire stadium, but it is constructed as a see-through so the sun can shine on the warriors. Regardless, it was mid-day, and the sun was unforgiving as it heated up the stadium like a greenhouse. Both Hiei and Kolis began to sweat a little, of course Kolis not showing it because of his mask. Hiei tilted his head up a little and looked at the sky for a few moments. He brought everything he had from the tavern to the stadium, except for his shoulder pads. He didn't want extra weight to hinder his reach. His sheath and sword were still on him, though. Hiei stretched his arms and neck a little, while looking at the spectators all around the dome.
"I expected a private fight, with no spectators." Hiei said to Kolis, loud enough to reach his ears. "Quite troublesome."
"I'd say the same." Kolis replied, "Before we start, I have a question: Why did you challenge me out of the blue? I didn't expect someone like you to be so rash."
Hiei knew the reason behind it, but decided to tell a half-truth. "You asked me for help. I wanted to see who I'm working with first. Don't expect someone to help a stranger right away, especially if the stranger has his face covered. At the end of this match, I will make sure your mask comes off, and you will reveal yourself before me." Hiei grinned as he unsheathed his sword and pointed the tip straight at Kolis.
"Lets begin."

Kolis had been hoping for a private duel....or at least somewhere with obstacles to use. He hated open area's, it really did not suite his fighting style or range of spells. Kolis looked back at Hiei, the man had just drawn his sword and pointed it towards Kolis, taunting him.
His stance indicates he is ready to strike forward or fall back, he's obviously getting prepared for anything....smart but not smart enough Kolis thought to himself with a sly grin on his face.
"Are we going to fight, or am 'I' going to fight?" Hiei shouted across the field getting impatient, however the remark was not necessarily at Kolis.
"I suppose 'we' should start now" Kolis whispered to himself.
Kolis quickly drew his dagger and broke into a full on sprint straight at Hiei. However, while Kolis was charging forward, he was secretly molding a strand of darkness that he had extracted from the air as Hiei was talking.
Hiei stiffened and crouched slightly, getting ready to parry Kolis's blow. Kolis suddenly came to a dusty halt and whipped his arm up firing the dark projectile straight into Hiei's defence. The shock from the impact of the projectile and Hiei's defence, knocked Hiei back into the ground.
A few Aerinthians started shouting something about "unfair contest" and "dark trickery", but at the same time a few of the magi in the stands gave a small nod of approval towards to the ingenious maneuver.
Just as Kolis relaxed and began to move his hands in casting another spell Hiei rapidly jumped to his feet and kicked Kolis, sending him stumbling back in cloud of mis-casted magic.
"Nice move" Hiei commented. "However you forget one thing...such a low powered spell could never injure me, be sure to actual cause some damage next time" Hiei gloated.
Kolis looked up from the foggy remnants of his mis-casted spell.
This is going to be a lot harder then I had first anticipated....

Hiei stood up from Kolis' attack, dusting off the dirt that had accumulated on his gear. Hiei then looked forward and saw Kolis looking up at him.
Wielding a dagger, able to cast a spell of the dark arts... He's a Mage. " Hiei thought as he looked more carefully at Kolis. Even though Hiei himself is a Mage, he has fought plenty of Mages before in other worlds. Some terrifying to the eye, some sleek and cunning. Kolis seems to have that potential to be a great Mage, but his basics in wizardry hasn't been mastered. At least, not enough to match Hiei based on what he has observed. However, Hiei did not feel like judging Kolis so early in the fight, for he knows that Kolis has other things up his sleeve. It was only a matter of method for Hiei to force Kolis' hand, and ultimately reveal his face behind the mask.
Hiei suddenly sprinted towards Kolis, his right hand in front, holding onto his sword ready to strike, and his left hand on his back, helping with his balance. Hiei was running with his body tilted towards Kolis, and thus his left hand becomes a point of balance. Kolis immediately realized Hiei's oncoming attack, and reacted by jumping back a good distance while at the same time molding another strand of darkness secretly with his hands.
When Kolis landed, Hiei was only around two yards away from him, ready to swing the sword. Kolis anticipated this and suddenly whipped his arm out and launched another dark projectile at Hiei. At such a close range, Hiei would not be able to react in time to dodge it.
Fortunately, Hiei foresaw this and as if he timed Kolis' launch, Hiei followed by whipping his left arm forward, and swinging his right arm away. His left hand held a white-blue arcane bolt, which immediately flashed and met Kolis' dark projectile head-on. Kolis' only realized the bolt in the few milliseconds Hiei launched it, and suddenly felt as if being pushed back by a force. The two bolts collided and cracked out a whip-like sound, sending silver-Grey sparks everywhere. Suddenly, the audience began to gasp in unison, then scream out in excitement on the action and eye-candy that just occurred. The crowd became restless, with lots of shouting and whistling, wanting to see it happen again.
The force of the impact pushed Hiei and Kolis' back a few yards, and unfortunately Kolis didn't anticipate this and landed on his back. Hiei was more fortunate, as he knew the effects and was able to land on his feet crouching down.
...Looks like I timed that bolt just right, though it still takes a little getting used to.
Grayish smoke rises from the ground where the sparks landed, and after it has dissolved, both Kolis' and Hiei were back on their feet.
"Before I continue," Hiei said to Kolis, "Do you have any spell in your arsenal that can make this a more private fight? A sleeping spell, a barrier, anything of the sort."
Kolis looked at Hiei in bewilderment, then shook his head "No."
"I see." Hiei inhaled a big whiff of air, and slowly sighed it out, appearing to gain a form of concentration. "Arcbese-oropo-seiwojne. I guess it can't be helped." Suddenly, Hiei began to dash once again towards Kolis, returning to the same action he has done right before. Kolis wondered why Hiei is repeating the same actions over and over, and began to move his hands to prepare for a different spell when Hiei suddenly leaped up into the air, and used both of his hands to lunge down towards Kolis for a big strike. Kolis was able to anticipate this move, and stepped aside evasively, causing Hiei to miss his mark. However, Hiei whipped out his left hand with his sword towards Kolis, who is now on Hiei's left side, aiming to injure him in any way possible. Kolis dodged some of Hiei's attacks for his strikes are not as fast as a professional swordsman, but somehow Kolis felt that Hiei wasn't putting any effort in his strikes. Hiei tried to slash and hack left and right, front and around, wide and short, but was only able to nick Kolis quite a few times on his shoulder and chest area. After Hiei finished his sequence, he pushed himself back a few feet to get some distance from Kolis, and Kolis did the same.
"You seem harder to defeat than I thought." Hiei commented, but Kolis took this with a grain of salt. Surely Hiei was lying, his slashes were weak, and it seemed as if he lost the excitement in the fight. What would have caused this to happen? However, now isn't the time to think about such trivial things, since Kolis can definitely use this situation to his advantage.

...Kolis easily deflected yet another pointless blow from Hiei as he began to advance.
Why does he persist in these meaningless attacks; there would be no point in analyzing my fighting skills as he knows I'm a mage....I wonder what he's up to...
Kolis slowly started to advance forward, making small slashes at Hiei as he went.
Come on.....what are you waiting for, what are you planning Kolis thought as he dished out feeble attacks in order to buy time.
Hiei seemed to be blocking these with ease as he slowly paced backwards. Kolis started to swing slightly harder and fast. Hiei found himself having to do move faster and began to make great use of footwork.
"Haha, dance some more for me will you!" Kolis taunted.
Some of the crowd at this point started to laugh and jeer at Hiei, as his fast foot work did resemble that of a very badly performed jig. Kolis kept on slashing and stabbing faster and faster with his dagger, trying to confuse Hiei. Hiei's feet moved faster and faster, his movements starting to stumble and become hasty and clumsy.
Where did this come from; he's attacking like a maniac Hiei thought to himself just before Kolis's dagger came darting past his head.
At this point the crowd was howling with laughter at Hiei's "performance". Hiei was struggling to keep his footing, and his mind. The crowd seemed like they were saying some form of chant inside his head, the laughter was slowly filling up his thoughts. Kolis seeing an opening in Hiei's defence, took his chance...
"You forget my friend, that even the crowd can be used as a WEAPON!" Kolis shouted as he swung his opposite hand hard up into Hiei's stomach.
However, Hiei did not fall...instead Kolis's hand was stopped, and with it a very dull clang. Hiei had been wearing a breast plate under his clothing.
Damnit Kolis swore to himself. Fell for the oldest trick in the book... .
Hiei, taking this opportunity, grabbed Kolis with his unoccupied hand and pushed him into the ground. Dust from the ground made a small cloud around the two fighters obscuring their view. Hiei stepped back out of the cloud coughing. After Kolis did not appear for some moments of time, Hiei relaxed.
"Well, looks like that's....." Hiei suddenly stopped because just as the dust had cleared, he saw Kolis trying to contain a pulsing black orb between his hands.
Hiei couldn't see it, but he was certain that Kolis grinned just as he let go of the orb. The orb seemed to lurch and then it exploded, sending a dark shock wave in all directions. Hiei stood there, knowing that he couldn't outrun it in time, took up a defensive position and waited....watching the dark wave and dust rapidly surging towards him...

Hiei looked towards the rapidly surging dark wave, and instinctively stretched his palms out in front of him to block the attack. Afterwards, Hiei began to mutter in a quick and almost undistinguishable tone.
"Sweet scent, sour scent
wind carries, sand buries.
Carry the warrior,
find the scent,
and have it stick."
While muttering, the dark wave swallows Hiei, leaving the last trace of his appearance standing against the darkness. When the dark wave hit the walls of the arena, a loud and deep boom was heard throughout. The dark wave dissipated within moments, and Hiei can be seen again, this time with the body against the wall, sliding downwards to the ground.
Hiei landed on his feet, and struggled a little to keep balance. He began to breave heavily, and looked straight ahead at where Kolis was last seen. However, he wasn't there.
A knife suddenly slashed forward and sliced through a bit of Hiei's right cheek. The knife, now drawing blood, stands pointing right at the wound site, with Kolis holding the handle. Hiei did not move, and simply shifted his eyes to meet Kolis' masked eyes. Kolis then saw something unusual; for a slight moment, Hiei's irises were crimson. But, that moment was too short. It could have been a reflection of his eyes. Kolis left that thought and focused on what is more important; his current situation.
"From here on out, I'm going to get serious. I don't care if you are holding back." Kolis grinned evily behind his mask. This situation left him advantageous, and he is definitely going to use it. Hiei's heavy breathing slowed slightly, as if his breaths were long sighs. A small running line of blood dripped from his wound down to his jaw line.
"You can't use your sword, since you are to a wall. You can't use magic, because I have a knife to your throat. Any futile attempts at a physical attack will be countered by my little friend here to the face." Kolis showed Hiei his free hand, which has the dark matter pulsing in his hand. "What can you do now?"
"I don't think that is a good idea to point a dagger right at my face", Hiei whispered to Kolis. Before Kolis could react and question what Hiei meant, Hiei immediately sprung his right hand to grasp the dark matter, while at the same time moving his head away from the direction of the knife so it would miss. What a crazy attempt Hiei has made, to try and grasp a dark bubbling mass that he has no idea what its properties are! Kolis reacted by launching the mass simeltaneously while jabbing the knife towards Hiei, which misses. However, the dark mass began to lurch once again, and this time both Kolis and Hiei become consumed by the dark wave at point blank range. This wave, however seemed weaker than the last, determined by the lack of the deep sounding boom that occured before. After another wave of dust settled, Hiei and Kolis can be seen far away from each other.
Nngh.. I reacted with an incantation before. I am an idiot! I am already feeling its effects again, but this fight is long from over. Hiei, who was on the floor from the wave, stood up and unsheathed his sword once again, this time holding it in front of him such that the tip of the blade faces towards the sky.
"I don't care if you fight seriously. I will do what I came here to do: reveal your true face before me." Hiei could see Kolis rising from the ground as well, struggling a little to get up. Hiei shut his eyes for a moment of concentration, and then opened them, looking intensively towards Kolis who is now looking towards him.
"Double Helix."
