    Default Omnisphere or EWQL

First off, I am a techno peasant! Recently finally sucked up my cheeks and decided to "invest" into my music and move away from notation programs.

So mydellima right now: there is a promotion on EWQL complete Composer edition right now 75% off at $799. If I could only get that or Omnisphere for $599 which one should I get and how come? My main genres are game/film music planning to use it with Cubase.

I will probably eventually get both but I don't want to spend so much at one time. Please give me some advice .

    What are your computer Specs?

The question is hard to answer. You will need to think what are you needing more right now. Eastwest is ALWAYS having good deals, so you should not worry if you don't buy that special right now.

I have EWQLSO Gold, Ministry of Rock 1 & RA. If you have any question about these three I may be able to help you.

    Edit:

Looking at the current CCC setting, I would replace Gold for Platinum. Gold just has 1 mic position and the samples are already wet (and in 16-bit). Platinum has 3 mic position and the close mic has drier samples that allow you to have more freedom at mixing the orchestra. I would replace also Voice of Passion(VOP) for MOR 1. VOP is just phrases and you may not use it all the time. And Goliath has variety but the instruments are not deeply sampled, I would consider to change that one. But it is up to instruments variety vs deep sampling.

Currently using i7 processer 3.1GHz 6GB RAM, GTX 480 vid card and will be buying a soundcard that suits the needs. I'm not sure about that makes the two programs different right now since they are both just sample libraries.

I was asking for specs to see if there would be anything that will give you trouble with these libraries. xD

    Hello,

I'm also thinking about buying the EWQL Complete Composer Collection, but I'm not sure if my Laptop is able to install this libraries. My computer specs are following one:

Processor 2.3GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500
    Memory 3GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz
    Hard drive 450GB at 5,400rpm
    Chipset
    Graphics Intel GMA 4500MHD
Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium

    Thank you for your answers.

Edit: And a little sidequest(ion): Can I use EWQL in Cubase LE5?

If you purchase it as the complete composer's edition, it comes in an "internal" 1TBHD. Depending on what you are going to realize the samples in, it could require ALOT of RAM. for instance When I realize it in Cubase, I use about 1-2GB RAM if I load alot while when I use Notion 3, it can take up 3-5GB of my RAM with only 5-6instruments.

I would recommend you to buy the apple OS (Around $120) and install it on your laptop if you want to run it with your specs. There's alot less junk in the apple OS so it should allow you to utilize EWQL with alot less stress than what I went through lol.

Regarding your side question: I currently use EWQL with my Cubase 6. Now, I've only gotten both these programs no more than a month ago so I'm still in the process of figuring how to make music with them still but from what I can tell; the two are integrating fairly well.

Thank you for your answer, I will thnik about it.

There are still a few questions I have about this bundle. First what is the difference between Symphonic Orchestra Platinum and Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Plus, Pianos Gold and Pianos and Symphonic Choirs and Symphonic Choirs Bundle. The I thought about ordering the Ministry of Rock, Goliath and Stormdrum 2, but I can't decide which last product I should order. There is a vast range: Ra, Gipsy, Fab Four, Voices of Passion and Silk. And I was wondering about if I am able to make music with that libraries that sounds like the music in the Metroid Prime Games as well.

Platinum plus have 24 and 16 sample bit depth while Platinum just have 16 sample bit depth. So Platinum Plus will take more spaces in a hard drive and will eat more RAM if you use the 24 sample bit depth. But the instruments are all the same. The difference between Pianos Gold and Pianos Full is that Pianos Gold has just the player microphone perspective and is in 16 bit samples while Pianos Full is in 24 bit samples and have 3 microphone perspectives. The Symphonic choirs Bundle offer Symphonic choir + Expansion [More choir samples]. For the last product to choice, personally I would not recommend so much Voices of Passion just because that just offer you vocal phrases. While it add more life to the music you may end using it not so often like any other library you may be able to choice.

Also, consider investing first in a computer upgrade if you want to avoid frustrations and limitations with your laptop. You won't be able to create big templates with your current system or even to be able to use some of the big patches like the ones in Pianos that set you as minimum requirement 4GB of RAM to load it.

If you do not know about sample bit depth you can take a look here:
